Fire Destroyed Cottage
Early in 2008, LES was contracted to provide asbestos remediation services to a fire damaged residential property in Sydney’s West.
The 100 year old cottage was constructed of asbestos containing eves and flat asbestos sheet wall cladding.
Fire engulfed the entire cottage which was totally destroyed by the immense heat, asbestos contamination was strewn across the entire residential block and neighboring houses.
An adjacent neighbour’s house was so affected by the heat of the fire; the wall cladding melted (see photo)
The LES team acted swiftly when they got the call and promptly remediated the contaminated site which included demolition of the fire damaged structure and excavation of the ground surface to attain clearance certification issued by the occupational hygenist
